I spent a couple of weeks enjoying my new home and food at the Duck Pond Estate, when I suddenly noticed that there were almost NO clean socks left in my sock drawer. This is not a good thing, because a busy Ducky like me needs those clean socks, not to mention the underwear and clothes and other things that make me such a Ducky person. It was time to take daring action once again, and I prepared for yet another exciting adventure! This time, I would be traveling all the way to...THE LAUNDRY ROOM! The laundry room is an exotic and faraway place, being on the second floor of my building and all, so I arranged to take the journey by elevator. Supplies are important for this kind of adventure, so I brought along my dirty clothes, my clothes hangers, a gallon of bleach, a 20 pound box of detergent, a bunch of quarters, a box of Cheez-Its and a thermos of coffee. I also brought a box of fabric softener sheets that smelled really good. With my supplies neatly packed in my laundry cart, I began my adventure. I got in the elevator, being careful not to exceed the weight limit of 2500 pounds, then carefully pushed the button marked with the number 2. The elevator made its way down to the second floor, and the doors opened. I exited and made my way down the hall to the laundry room. I was pleased to find that there were two washing machines and two dryers, and both were empty and ready to be used. I scooped the laundry soap into the machine just like the directions said. You have to be very careful with this part, because you want just the right amount of soap. Too little and the clothes won't get clean, too much and you will get bubbles all over the floor when it spills over the top. I put the white and colorfast cotton clothes in one washer, and the knit and permanent press clothes in the other washer. You aren't allowed to mix them up, because you can't use bleach on many fabrics. I put my quarters in the coin slot and started the machines. You have to wait until they are filled with water before you put in the bleach, or it will make the clothes all spotty. I munched on a couple of Cheez-Its while I waited. Once the machine started washing, all I had to do was sit and wait until the buzzer told me they were all done. Then I put them in the dryers with the fabric softener sheets, put in some more quarters and waited for them to dry. This took a really long time, so i ate some Cheez-its and drank the coffee. When they were done, I put them in my laundry cart and took them back to the elevator, which I used to return to my own humble abode. Once again safely inside my humble abode, I carefully folded the clothes and stuffed them in the drawers where they are supposed to be. I admired my many clean socks, and then rewarded myself with some delicious tuna salad. All in a day's work for this Ducky!
